Description

This Dementia Awareness course will provide you with essential information, tips and advice for communicating with someone with Dementia. It will help increase your confidence when communicating with people with dementia enabling you to be compassionate and stay relaxed and calm. You will also learn how to encourage the person to communicate using body language and visual aids, while developing language skills that work for them.

Olivia has been training private and public sector staff in communication skills since 2001. She uses researched based models and is also developing her own training, ‘communicating with C.A.R.E.’ She is also a member of the research teams with Surrey and Chester University.

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to understand dementia and how to take care of someone who is suffering from it. It is an ideal companion for someone in a care giving role. Learn how to problem solve and come up with practical solutions you can apply to your personal situation. Finally, you will be able to deal with difficulties with communication and make your environment more dementia friendly.
